Daniel L. Slotnick

Significant developer of the concept of the processor array.

Slotnick developed the concept of the processor array from his time with the IAS project with von Neumann. Whereas von Neumann could not accept the concept, Slotnick developed the idea into the SOLOMON scheme, which eventually evolved into the ILLIAC IV at the University of Illinois. However, funding restrictions only permitted the construction of a small portion of Slotnick's scheme. [See biography of John Pasta.]
